Motherly Instinct?

11.01.2011

Have I ever told you how I was absolutely convinced that O was going to be a boy?  We had a boy name picked out and "boy" clothes to spare.  But then out the baby came and as Ben laid her on my chest, I distinctly remember looking down at her perfect little face and thinking "hmm, that looks like a girl."  And then Ben announced that our new baby was in fact a girl and, well, the rest is history.

Which is all to say that I have absolutely zero confidence in my motherly instinct when it comes to predicting what I'm having, so when people ask me what my gut-feeling is this time around, I generally shrug my shoulders and say "I have no idea."  And so I went into the anatomy scan not feeling particularly one way or another about the sex of this baby - although I have to say that most people around me were absolutely convinced that our new little one was going to come equipped with a penis.

But as it turns out, they were all wrong.

It looks like we're having another girl...and we couldn't be more pleased!

  1. Congrats! Now all those awesome outfits you've made get another go around! And if you ever want to trade two girls for one boy, for like a week, just let me know :)

  3. Congrats! I must admit as the mother of two little boys I'm a little jealous! Lately, I've been dreaming of hair ribbons and ballet class even though I'm definitely not having anymore babies!

  8. Haha .. we did the exact same thing!! We did, however, find out at 28wks thats our little one was a girl but then kept it a secret. Lets just say everybody was rather shocked when we announced we had a little girl (including our parents and siblings). Blue items of clothing were shortly returned to the store!
    Congrats on your news xxxx

  12. Congratulations! Sisters are awesome. We found out with Rocco and Luca what the sex was beforehand and good thing it was correct because I bought a shit ton of baby stuff before they were born. With Vinny we wanted a surprise and by the time he was born we had convinced ourselves it was a girl. I actually did a double take to see if he really had a penis. It's strange how the mind can take over and convince you of things you have no business being convinced about.
