Me Made June - Something I Love, Something I Love A Little Less

6.03.2011

Are these posts like bad deja vu?  Do they have you thinking "Geez, Carolyn, you just made that!  I just saw that!"  If so, sorry!  I swear that there are some things that you  haven't seen yet and sometime I'll get around to wearing them.  To be perfectly honest though, a lot of the things that I made in the past have gone the way of the Goodwill bag.  Looking at them now I can see that they are just poorly sewn and look, well, like crap.

In any case, here's Me Made June day number 2 - still a crappy Pacific Northwest day, but you see how I'm an optimist because I'm wearing suede open-toed shoes?  I figured that there was no way that my feet were going to get rained on because the shoes are from Oprah and nobody pisses Oprah off, right?  (well, they are from Oprah by way of my older sister who got them when she was in the studio audience of one of Oprah's last shows.  I know, I know.  I'm a lucky gal.  A little sister who gives me fabric and an older sister who gives me shoes.  What more could a girl ask for?)

And day number 3?  Well, I'm spending today at home letting furnace repair men into my house so I can get estimates on how much it's going to cost to replace our furnace.  Not how I would chose to spend a day off, but it has to be done.  And not necessarily something I need to dress up for, so I broke out the School House Tunic which I haven't worn since I made it.  I'm not a huge fan of how this looks on me and I'm guessing that it won't see the light of day often.  What a bummer.

  1. I think the schoolhouse tunic looks really cute on you! I like that print a lot too. Hopefully you can get some sewing done while you're at home today?

  2. I agree. I like the Schoolhouse tunic on you, but it is all about how you feel in it.

And yeah, your sisters seriously rock.

  4. The tunic is great...I grabbed the pattern to make for a swimsuit cover (if summer ever decides to show up!)

  5. I LOVE the tunic and hope it doesn't go to the goodwill!! In fact if my sewing skills were anything more advanced than stone-aged I'd give it a try myself!!!

  7. I think the good thing about Me Made June posts like this is they show garments in real, practical use as opposed to the usual freshly-made and more styled shots. I like the tunic too!

  8. I am like you and dont like overly baggy (and for that matter overly tight) things on me. I do like the look of the tunic though for lazing around home days and maybe popping up to the school at pick up time - might have to look for the pattern.

  9. I love the first outfit so much: the top is awesome, the pants rule, and Oprah shoes?!?

Girl, just shorten the tunic a tad. It looks like it fits well.
