Please Don't Judge - I Swear I'm A Good Person

Photographic proof that I am a disgusting, nasty, sentimental hoarder.

Yes, my friends, that would be my child's broken off umbilical cord that's been saved in her room for the past two and a half years.

  1. It is 6am, I'm sitting down at the computer with my lovely cup of coffee and the first thing I come across is this???!!! Vies! ;-) (= Dutch for gross)

  3. hehe - I held on to my older daughter's for 20 years. (Was I saving it to show her prospective suitors? NOOO!) After that point, I lost track of it, but I'm sure I'll find it tucked away in a drawer somewhere someday. We mothers are a sentimental lot. And just a little bit wierd.

  5. Ewwwww! But no less than I have come to expect from someone who posts photos of her daughter's first vomit ;)

  6. You guys all kept your kid's umbilical cord ends? I thought that was just a bad joke in a bad movie ... Blech. (I might still have a positive pregnancy test lying around, though, and I peed on that, so, um ...)

  7. I could have sworn I saved one of those, but looking at that photo makes me rethink. I probably just pretended to keep it in my sentimental mind. The strange thing (in this conversation there are many), is that I have no recollection of what I did with baby number 2 and 3 stumpies. Shouldn't I at least remember throwing them away?

  9. I saved my son's!!! Still got it in a ziploc baggie. But I capitulated to family opinion and tossed my daughter's. I'm sure she'll regret that terribly. :-)

It made me so happy to see this post. Makes me feel a little less like I'm going to end up on an episode of "Hoarders." I think I'm going to show my husband to prove that I am not the only person who saved it!

I am sure that Jeffrey's is tucked away still, after 24 years! Call me what you will...

  14. This just made me laugh out loud. I, too, have my daughter's 2.5 year old cord in a little baggie in a box in her room. SO funny. I cannot let go.
